Fans of Ricky Gervais will be happy to know that he has just signed a deal along with his The Office co-writer Stephen Merchant with american cable TV channel HBO and UK Channel BBC to show their new tv show "Extras". The show will star Gervais as a struggling actor who only seems to get work as an extra in films, it will also star Merchant as his agent. Several well known hollywood stars are apparently appearing in several episodes as well, actors like Patrick Stewart, Samuel L Jackson Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet. There's a full press release on Ricky Gervais's website right here.

There's also the final (I think) Batman Begins trailer online here.

I've done some changes to the site, I customised the error pages, added some links at the bottom of this page to the photo gallery and potatoz webmail, which I've also customised to suit the look of the site. I've also fixed some minor issues here and there, broken links, images etc.

Gamespy have a preview up about Will "Sim" Wright's new game "Spore" basically the idea is your take a simple single celled organism and evolve it up into your own species of creatures, eventually creating your own civilisation and then exploring the galaxy. According to the article the creatures, buildings, vehicles are even planets are designed by the player, there's no developer created 3D models, it's all created procedurally by the player. The player eventually comes across other races and civilisations.. all created by other players.

It all sounds very open ended and a very "sand box" style of gameplay, which sounds awesome to me. But don't believe me, read it for yourself and check out some of the shots.

I got bored over the long weekend, and did what I'm sure all of you have done at one time or another... I took photos of marbles. I know, I hear you saying "do something original" so I decided to share my marbles with well...myself because I don't think anyone else actually comes here unless I spam them with my URL. Anyway, as I was saying I did something original with my marbles, I made them into a wallpaper!

I've added, rearranged and done all sorts of changes to the site now, I've pulled out the 2D, Levels, 3D and Photography links from above and put them all in the self contained Portfolio section, which carries a different, more professional (I hope) looking design to this main page.

I also added to my portfolio the 2D section, which contains the wallpapers and photography galleries. I'll add more to the 2D section eventually, with some web design and GUI stuff, the main goal of the 2D area is to just show I have various skills, but it's not really my main focus, which of course is game/level design.

In non site related news, Dark Horizons has a photo of the new superman outfit in the upcoming Superman Returns film. I dunno about you but I find it hard to take anyone who wears their grundies on the outside serious, but it's being directed by Bryan "X-man" Singer so hopefully he can piece it together into something great. They've also got a new cool looking Batman Begins poster on their site and a report about possible Star Wars TV shows in the future, one a CGI animated series and another live action starring supporting actors from the (I'm assuming) more recent films.

Also....Michael Jordan Jnr and Midgets!

Baby baby, you're the one, you make bathtime, so much fun

For anyone who watches HBO's Deadwood you may or may not be aware the show is based on a town in South Dakota which actually existed in the late 1800s. What I didn't know, was that many of the characters are based on people who actually existed during this time. The Digital Deadwood website has a nice little history with photos of some of the real life counterparts in thier History link down the bottom. Most of the characters are there, Al Swearengen, Calamity Jane, Colorado Charlie Utter, Seth Bullock, Sol Star and Wild Bill Hickok. They've also got a little bit of history about the town and it's establishments.

The show doesn't seem to be 100% accurate in it's depiction of the town, I'd say they would have had to take some creative liberities in the process of making an entertaining show. Things like "The Gem" actually existed and was a prostitution den of Al Swearengens, but it also was a stage show place with dancers and acts. But there was an actual plague of smallpox at Deadwood and Bullock and Sol actually opened and ran a hardware store, and that Bullock was the towns first sheriff.

I did up a little photo comparison for a couple of the characters versus the real people from photos I found on their site...

Seth Bullock

Wild Bill Hickok

Soloman Star

And if you haven't already seen the Deadwood "Fucks" Per Episode site, check it out, this guy has counted how many times the word "fuck" is said per episode and gives you a FPM (Fucks Per Minute) number.

Borat from Da Ali G show looks like he's getting his own movie!

According this article on movie news website Dark Horizons, I also dug up an earlier news report on the subject from the same site.

I found this little animation someone synced up to a borat clip as well, check out the creators site if you liked it.

I figured I'd dig up a similar TV show-to-Movie article while on the subject, this time about canadian mockumentary comedy Trailer Park Boys. The movie is set to be created by the same team behind the show, but produced by Ivan "Genius" Reitman.

Basically these guys have taken NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" album, and removed nothing but the swearing from it.

Near Earth Object Program

A database of all known asteroids and their orbits around the sun, with graphical displays showing their paths which you can fast forward or rewind. Some are due to get pretty close, like 2004 MN4 in the year 2035. But according to this article it may change course due to an earlier close pass by the earth in 2029 and change it's orbit...into the earth. Another article on the NEO program's website states that the asteriod trajectory becomes far less predictable after the 2029 close pass which they say will pass just under the altitude of geosynchronous satellites.

Lego Computer

Some guy with too much time on his hands shows you how he created his Lego computer case.

The Levels Section is now up to date!, I've added The Unseelie, Secret Service: Security Breach and I've added a couple new screenshots to Mixed Spirits.

I've also added a videos for The Unseelie and Mixed Spirits, which you can find in their respective sections.

I haven't added my Action Quake II levels to the level section yet, and I'm not sure if I will, they're quite old now, 5 years. But if you disagree and think I should put them in, let me know!

This is quite a fairly old site, but for those that don't know about it I suggest you check out Spamusement basically this guy takes subject lines from spam emails he receives and draws cartoons based on them. Or as he says on the site himself...

"Poorly-drawn cartoons inspired by actual spam subject lines!"

Some are pretty amusing, others are just plain weird, so it's a bit hit and miss.

In site news, I should have more content up tonight, with some videos of Mixed Spirits and The Unseelie as well as more screenshots for both. Hopefully I will have time to add screenshots for Secret Service: Security Breach as well.

League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse

No this isn't a sequel to that movie with Sean Connery, it's based on the UK sitcom "The League of Gentlemen" which if you haven't seen, I'm not going to go to the trouble of explaining what it's about, just check out the show for yourself.

Kingdom of Heaven

Directed by Ridley "Gladiator, Alien, Hannibal, Black Hawk Down, etc" Scott starring Orlando "Legolas" Bloom, Liam "Qui-Gon" Neeson and Jeremy "That bad guy from Die Hard 3" Irons. Set in the crusades it has something to do with fighting and battles and knights or something, but it looks cool, except for the strange choice of music in the trailer. There's some more trailers for it, with more suitable music available here.

Batman Begins

The official Batman Begins website has been updated with some cool new trailers and funky flash layout.

King Kong / Superman Returns

For those that don't know (or care) Peter "Lord of the Rings" Jackson has been documenting the production of his remake of King Kong on the Kong is King website with a series of production diary videos. Bryan "X-man" Singer has recently begun doing the same at Blue Tights with his production of Superman Returns. They did a crossover diary recently, where Bryan visited the set of King Kong and "guest directed" a few scenes for Peter Jackson, along with director Frank "Shawshank Redemption" Darabont. The results can be found on the Kong is King website on day 131. For another point of view of the events you can also check out Journal #7 on the Blue Tights website.

Levels Section Online

The levels section is now online, I still have more content to add to it, which I will do as I get the chance. I'll add the other sections eventually as well. There's also been some minor tweaks here in there, implemented CCS stylesheets and temporarily linked the "Contact" menu item to my email, I'll eventually change it to link to a more comprehensive resume/contact page.

If you find any issues with the site, broken links, weird displays etc, just mention it in the comments or drop me an email.
