Batman Begins rocks, best Batman movie ever, and coming from a fan of the first two Tim Burton films, that is a big claim. There's already rumours of the casting for The Joker if there's a sequel and no one likes Katie Holmes anymore. I had planned on doing a feature about the history of Batman, mainly his changes in costumes in comics, TV and film. While researching I decided I couldn't be arsed doing it because there are tons of different batsuits out there, far too many for me to accurately define each one. Though there was some strange variations of the suit out there, like this one from the 1940's serials, where he looks more like The Tick than Batman. After giving up on that idea I thought I'd simplify it a bit, and just do a history of the Batmobile, but it too was far too time consuming to do comprehensively. This was before I found www.batmobilehistory.com has already done all the work for me. The site is fairly detailed, from the first appearance of a simple red car with a batsymbol hood ornament in 1941 which was the first vehicle to be dubbed "The Batmobile" to the black tank "The Tumbler" in Batman Begins and all the different variations in between. Some of the more unique ones are this monster truck, this almost Giger-like thing, some concepts that never made the cut and my most hated batmobile...from Batman Forever, where you could see the fins wobbling as it drove around. While still on the topic of cars, some fruitcake has stuck thousands of keyboard keys to his car and here's a cool new vehicle built to explore the arctic. Finally George Lucas has too much money, he needs to give me some. This guy has too much time, and these animals eat too much. |
